Parent & Coaches Code of Conduct

Without appreciation and respect for other people, true leadership becomes ineffective, if not impossible.

All parents, guardians, and coaches are bound to the Rules of HTRSA and it’s Code of Conduct.

Everyone must work together to promote sportsmanship and safety. The success of HTRSA is not determined by a single game, the final standings or the end of season win/loss record.  The success is built on positive instruction, teaching proper fundamentals and maintaining sportsmanship through fun competition.  This will provide a foundation our children can take with them for the rest of their lifetime.

Coaches Code of Conduct

  • Display and instill in their players the principals of good sportsmanship and team play and to be a positive role model.
  • Do their best to provide the players a positive experience and conduct themselves in a manner that best serves the interests of all of the players in the league..
  • Place the emotional and physical well being of their players ahead of a personal desire to win.
  • Take appropriate steps to minimize scoring in runaway (blowout) games.
  • Adhere to the rules of the game (per Division) and support the officials on and off the field.
  • Hold appropriate training/practice sessions for the players so they may develop skills to better play the game.
  • Give instruction to players that is positive, constructive and supportive, not negative.
  • Treat all players, referees, parents, spectators, opposing coaches and league officials with respect regardless of race, sex, religion, or ability, and shall teach their players to do the same. Berating a referee or opposing coach or player before, during, or after the game will not be tolerated.,
  • Remember that as a Coach, he or she represents the HTRSA and the community. Poor behavior during practices, games, or tournaments may result in disciplinary actions, including game suspensions. If this happens repeatedly, it will result in expulsion from the Association.
  • Report any charges of misconduct by a player, coach (including their own), or parent to the respective Division Commissioner and the Executive Board.

Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct

  • Help make this experience fun, remembering that the children are involved in organized sports for their enjoyment, health and well-being.
  • Do not force your child to participation in sports, but rather support his/her desire to play the chosen sport.
  • Be a positive role model and conduct themselves in a manner that best serves all of the players in our league.
  • Volunteer to help when the opportunity arises or becomes necessary. (The minimum is one game per registered player.)
  • Promote fair play and sportsmanship both on and off the field.
  • Treat all players, referees, parents, spectators, opposing coaches and league officials with respect regardless of race, sex, religion, or ability. Berating a referee or coach or player during or after a game on the field or in the parking lot or anywhere else WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!
  • If you have a problem or question with a Coaches decision, bring it up to him/her after a 24 hour “cooling off” period. If the problem is not addressed or the answer is not to your liking, please contact your player's Division Commissioner. The problem will be handled as soon as possible.
  • Report any charges of misconduct by a player, coach, or parent/specator to the respective Division Commissioner and the Executive Board.
